the Concentric WAY

In The Walled Nursery, where I see clients in Kent

I know it can be difficult to consider going to counselling, but I’m hoping that it can also be really useful and rewarding too. Take a look at my website, have a read of some of the things I think are important and, if they resonate with you, click on the contact form and get in touch.

Compassion, resilience and empathy are the core of my practice. I care about creating a safe and respectful relationship, because I think that gives us the best foundation in which to consider how your life can be more satisfying, and more authentic.

Wherever possible, create a circle where people can safely share deep experiences and diverse viewpoints. There are many circle formats, but their one central concept is to demonstrate reverence for the truth of another person’s experience

What IS COUNSELLING?

People can be apprehensive about seeking counselling, which is understandable if you have never had a therapeutic experience before.

Counselling isn’t advice giving, me finding a magic cure, or us having a cuppa and a chat. Your life is important, and we will give your experiences the respect they deserve. Working together, you can expect:

  • A confidential space; a place in which to be listened;

  • A boundaried environment where your autonomy is respected;

  • An empathic, non-directive experience, where the pace and focus is set by you;

  • A warm and inviting environment, where you can feel safe to acknowledge the difficulties or challenges that have brought you to counselling, and to feel supported as we work through them;

  • A conversational space, for us to consider new ideas and new worldviews;

  • A cheerleader who believes in you!

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS?

Sessions last for fifty minutes and are usually weekly. It is important to maintain consistency in our meetings, so we will agree a mutually convenient time during the first session, although we can also be flexible when appropriate, to accommodate busy schedules.

WHERE CAN I SEE YOU?

I am currently operating my practice online, via Zoom. This is a fully accessible service, with typed option available using the platform, or traditional talking therapy.

how much does it cost?

Sessions are £105.

I believe quality emotional support should be available to everyone. I offer a discounted rate of £75 to those who are not able to pay the full session cost. This rate is also available to students currently enrolled on a counselling course, needing personal counselling as a requirement of their qualification.

HOW DOES INVOICING WORK?

Your initial session payment will be taken by bank transfer. If we agree to continue working together, payments are taken via GoCardless, which is linked to your invoice.

You will be invoiced at the beginning of each month and asked to pay upfront for the month ahead via direct debit. Your payment details are deleted when we end our work together.

As we approach the end of each month, we will agree our availability, taking into any holidays or other commitments you have. Where we can, we will look for alternative availability that week. If we can't, we will agree to miss a session; you will only be invoiced for agreed-upon sessions. You will be charged for any missed scheduled sessions – unless I have to cancel, in which case you will be reimbursed on your next invoice.

HOW LONG DOES COUNSELLING LAST?

I offer both shorter term and long term work, and it varies for each person; the ‘right’ amount of counselling is the right amount for you. We will regularly review your counselling as we work together, to ensure your needs are being met.

HOW WILL IT END?

Counselling can have a significant impact on people, and it is worth acknowledging that impact with a proper planned ending. We will work together in preparing for our ending, and be guided by what feels right for you.
