Working with Domestic and Sexual Violence: Incorporating a Feminist Perspective


Insightful training delivered in a restful setting, with registration being open from 9am. You'll be greeted with refreshments, ready for a 9.30am start. The day will end at 4.30pm, with a 6 hour CPD attendance certificate. The day includes:

  • An in-depth focused presentation with PowerPoint, small group work, and personal reflection time, in the confidential and comfortable Wellness Centre;

  • A comprehensive workbook of resources;

  • Delicious refreshments throughout the day, including lunch in The Vinery Cafe;

  • Free parking;

  • Attendance certificate.

The training will include:

  • definitions, myths, statistics, and types of abuse;

  • indicators of abuse;

  • the possible impact of an abusive relationship;

  • barriers to leaving, and intersectional issues that may make clients more vulnerable;

  • a feminist framework within which to understand this work;

  • a neuroscientific and body aware understanding of the whole body impact of stress and trauma on our client;

  • resourcing, safeguarding and signposting;

  • Q+A

This day will benefit professionals seeking to:

  • establish or update their working practice with regard to domestic and sexual violence;

  • incorporate an intersectional feminist understanding in this area of work, including social, political and economic factors;

  • include respectful, empathic, inclusive, and strengths based strategies into their working practice with those affected by these issues;

  • develop a network with other like-minded professionals.
